The Igloo Hedgehog Home is a safe haven for one of the UK’s most beloved garden visitors. Crafted with a sturdy steel frame and finished in natural brushwood, this dome-shaped shelter offers discreet protection for hedgehogs against common garden dangers—from strimmers and forks to curious pets and predators like badgers or foxes.
More spacious than the Hogitat, the Igloo can comfortably accommodate a mother hedgehog and her young, making it ideal for nesting during the active months or sheltering throughout the year. While primarily designed as a daytime retreat or overwintering spot, it can also be used for hibernation—simply cover it with extra brushwood or leaves in colder months to improve insulation.
Built for resilience, the shelter features a waterproof felt-lined roof, a camouflaged brushwood exterior, and decorative rattan bands. Its small entrance tunnel deters larger animals and encourages safe, undisturbed use by hedgehogs. Please note that as it's made from natural materials, the look and finish may vary slightly.
Important care advice: Hedgehogs are wild animals, so avoid disturbing them. Perform maintenance only once a year in early summer. For best results, place the Igloo in a quiet, covered area out of direct wind. Surround it with leaves and foliage for additional camouflage, and consider anchoring it down if local pets or wildlife are active in the area.
Please note: While this igloo is ideal for wild garden use, it is not suitable for use in hedgehog rescue centres where frequent inspection is needed. In those cases, opt for wooden houses with openable roofs.
